Collagens are fibrous, extracellularmatrix proteinswith high tensile strength and are themajorcomponents ofconnective tissue,such astendons and cartilage. Allcollagenscontain a triple helix domain and frequentlyshow lateralself-association in order to formcomplexconnective tissues.
