The Countess Chamber Slides are designed for use with the Countess 3 and 3FL automated cell counters.
The disposable Countess Cell Counting Chamber Slides offer convenience in automated cell counting for processing multiple cell samples, busy cell culture facilities, and easy disposal of contaminated or hazardous samples. They also eliminate the risk of contamination from residual samples. After use, Countess slides can be disposed of as standard biohazard waste.
The Countess Reusable Slide is a green and cost-efficient alternative to disposable slides for automated cell counting. The reusable slide enables researchers and cell culture facilities to reduce costs and generate less waste per year, making it affordable for labs to automate their cell counts. The reusable slide is cleaned and dried between counts, just as with a hemocytometer.
Each Countess Cell Counting Chamber Slide has two separate, enclosed chambers for counting one sample in duplicate or two different samples. Cell counting occurs in a central location of the counting chamber. The volume counted is 0.4 μL, the same as counting four 1-mm2 squares in a standard hemocytometer.
The Countess Automated Cell Counter works in three simple steps:
- Mix 10 μL of sample with 10 μL of a cell viability stain or other desired reagent, including ReadyCount™ stains, and pipet into a Countess chamber slide
- Insert the slide into the instrument
- Press 'Count'
That's it—get the total cell count, percent viable cells, and average cell size in as little as 30 seconds.

The Countess Reusable Slide (Cat. No. A25750) is compatible with the Countess II FL and the Countess 3/3 FL instruments. However, they require a reusable slide holder specific to the instrument. The Countess 3 & 3 FL Reusable Slide Holder (Cat. No. A48208) and the Countess II FL Reusable Slide Holder (Cat No. AMEP4746) are shipped with the instrument and can be purchased separately.
The slide holder can be held inside the back of the instrument, next to the light cube removal tool.
The Hausser Scientific Cover Glasses/Slips (Cat. No. 02617581) from Fisher Scientific are compatible with the with the Countess Reusable Slide (Cat. No. A25750).
The Countess Reusable Slide (Cat. No. A25750) is compatible with Countess 2 FL, Countess 3, and Countess 3 FL Automated Cell Counter instruments.
