Description
For reconstitution, add sterile, distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of 1 mg/mL. Gently shake to solubilize the protein completely. Do not vortex. Reconstituted products should be stored at -80 °.
Empasiprubart, also known as ARGX-117, is a humanized monoclonal antibody specifically designed to bind and inhibit the function of the complement component 2 (C2) protein, a critical part of the complement cascade involved in immune responses. Complement component 2 (C2) is an essential part of the classical and lectin pathways of the complement system, pivotal in innate immunity. The C2 gene is located on chromosome 6p21.3 within the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class III region. Structurally, C2 is a 100 kDa single-chain polypeptide that, in the presence of magnesium ions (Mg 2+), binds to C4b on the surface of target cells, forming part of the C3 convertase (C4b2a) complex. Upon activation by C1s, C2 is cleaved into C2a, the active enzyme of the convertase, and C2b. Functionally, C2a plays a critical role in catalyzing the conversion of C3 to C3a and C3b, leading to opsonization, inflammation, and eventual lysis of pathogens. Deficiency in C2 can lead to increased susceptibility to infections and autoimmune diseases. Structural studies suggest that C2's conformation changes upon binding with C4b, which is vital for its role in immune response.Specifications
