Description

Premixed reagents for high-throughput applications

Platinum Blue PCR SuperMix provides qualified reagents for the amplification of nucleic acid templates by PCR, and includes blue tracking dye for subsequent gel analysis. The reagents are premixed for high-throughput applications as well as general ease of use.

Using Platinum Blue PCR SuperMix
The mixture contains recombinant Platinum Taq DNA polymerase, Mg++, dNTPs, glycerol (used as a precipitant), and blue tracking dye. Platinum Blue PCR SuperMix is supplied at a 1.1X concentration to allow approximately 10% of the final reaction volume to be used for the addition of primer and template solutions. Reagents are provided sufficient for 100 or 1,000 amplification reactions of approx. 50μL each.

Hot-start specificity
Specific binding of the anti-Taq antibody inhibits polymerase activity at room temperature. Activity is restored after a denaturation step in PCR cycling at 94°C, providing an automatic “hot start” in PCR and improving specificity and yield.
