Manufactured according to Eur. Ph. 4(2.2.2) standards. Iron(III) Chloride, 4.5% Solution, Chem-Lab is a yellow primary solution with 45g FeCl3·6H2O per 1L ±1% HCl. Used to catalyze reaction, in colorimetric testing for phenols and water/wastewater treatment.

Iron(III) chloride hexahydrate is employed as a Lewis acid for catalyzing reactions and for colorimetric testing for phenols and their derivatives. It is used as a clarifying agent in wastewater and drinking water treatment. Other uses of Iron(III) chloride hexahydrate include chloride hydrometallurgy and for the detection of gamma-hydroxybutyric acids and and salicylic acids.
