Lithium iodide is used as reagent in the cleavage of esters, ethers and epoxides, and carboxylation. It is used in scintillation counters. Lithium iodide is used as an electrolyte in high temperature batteries and artificial pacemakers. Phosphor, which is a complex of iodine, is used in neuron detection.
