Description

Non-ionic surfactant in cell culture used to control shear forces in suspension cultures against possible damage.

Pluronic F-68 is a difunctional block copolymer surfactant terminating in primary hydroxyl groups. It is a non-ionic detergent that protects cells from hydrodynamic damage, including freezing and thawing, transfer and stirring. It can also be used to reduce foaming in stirred cultures and reduce cell attachment to glass. Used for in vitro isolation of lymphocytes from diluted whole blood. Pluronic F-68™ is a registered trademark of BASF Corporation.
