Description

Used in iodine isolation, in redox titrations and as a source of iodide in organic synthesis. Potassium Iodide, 10% Solution, Chem-Lab is a solution of 100g KI per liter used in laboratory applications (TMAR).

Potassium iodide is an ionic compound that has been used as a medication (particularly in response to exposure to radioactive iodine). It is a mild reducing agent that is easily oxidized. It is used in iodine isolation, in redox titrations and as a source of iodide in organic synthesis. It may also act as a nucleophilic catalyst for the alkylation of alkyl chlorides, bromides or mesylates.
