Description

Isolate dermatophytes and other fungi in clinical samples and environmental samples with this acidic selective medium.

Isolate dermatophytes, other fungi and yeasts in clinical and environmental samples with the acidic Thermo Scientific™ Oxoid™ Sabouraud Dextrose Agar with Chloramphenicol and Actidone. The low pH supports the growth of fungi while inhibiting bacterial growth in mixed samples. Fungi maintain their typical cultural appearance and thus may be readily identified according to the standard macroscopic characters described by Sabouraud1. The addition of antimicrobials to inhibit bacteria for the isolation of pathogenic fungi has been described by several workers2,3,4,5,6,7.

Use Sabouraud Dextrose Agar with Chloramphenicol and Actidone for isolation of dermatophytes and other pathogenic fungi. The medium gives reliable results with Microsporum audouini, Microsporum canis, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Trichophyton flavum, Trichophyton rubrum and Candida albicans.

  • Suitable for identification of pathogenic fungi from material containing large numbers of other fungi or bacteria.
  • Ready-to-use convenience of prepared media.
