Description

Controls foam in aqueous media in laboratory applications. Silicon Antifoam, Chem-Lab is a low-viscosity silica compound that breaks down and prevents the formation of foam that can reduce processing speed, prevent efficient filling of tubes and other vessels, and hinder precise measurement.

Foam reduces processing speed and capacity in many laboratory applications. A small amount of silicon antifoam prevents the formation of foam and rapidly breaks down foam that is already present. A foam’s film is stabilized by its surface elasticity and viscosity. Silicones have low surface tension and interfacial properties. Their lack of foam-stabilization properties causes foam walls to become thin and collapse.
