Butyraldehyde is used as an intermediate in the production of synthetic resins, rubber accelerators, tanning auxiliaries, perfumes, flavors, plasticizers and high molecular weight polymers. It acts as a chemical intermediate to prepare other chemicals such as 2-ethylhexanol, n-butanol, polyvinyl butyral (PVB), n-butyric acid and pharmaceuticals.

Applications
Butyraldehyde is used as an intermediate in the production of synthetic resins, rubber accelerators, tanning auxiliaries, perfumes, flavors, plasticizers and high molecular weight polymers. Solubility
Miscible with water, ethanol, ether, ethyl acetate, acetone and toluene.

Notes
Air sensitive. Store in cool place. Incompatible with oxidizing agents, reducing agents, strong bases and acids.
